Database Migration from 9i to 11g
I am using a QC 10 enterprise edition. We were migrating from oracle database 9i to 11g and asked to test whether we have successfully migrated to the new database.
The DB team have taken the copy of a recent back up and placed in the new server and asked us to test it. We do not have a QC admin in place. I am familiar with the administrator work. Could some one please advise on how to do this from the beginning.
I know we have to change the database name under each project and also in DB server. What else need to be done??
Thanks in advance for all the help provided.

"We do not have a QC admin in place"
Do you mean the new server does not have a site adming account? Or do you mean no-one is officially the QC administrator and you are the lucky bunny that gets the job?
Is it just the database that has changed? - ie the QC is still on the same server?
here is what I did when we moved from a db called DIRP to one called qc11
QCSITEADMIN_DB.PROJECTS p set P.DB_CONNSTR_FORMAT = 'jdbc:mercuryracle://hinze:1521;sid=qc11'
where P.DB_CONNSTR_FORMAT = 'jdbc:mercuryracle://mercuryqc:1521;sid=DIRP' ;
update qcsiteadmin_db.projects set dbserver_name = 'hinze'
where dbserver_name = 'mercuryqc' ;
