Creating a Project list of Defects
I am working with QC v10, and was asked to implement a field in test instance to be something like a "lookup list", but instead of using some predefined values, it must be a list of the defects that are in the system. That field must be a link to that defect.
The purpose of this is to have a column on the execution grid (in the test lab), called, for instance, "Main Defect" and that one can choose from a list box one of the defects that exist actually on the system. Then it should be navigable to that defect, much in the same way of "Linked Defects" tab of a test set.
Does someone know how to implement this?
Thanks a lot.
Re: Creating a Project list of Defects
In the sample below I am filling a custom list with the subject names. Maybe you can use this example to do something similar for the linked defect customer list. I placed the code on the Bug_AfterPost trigger so that it is updated each time a bug is posted. I once used this to allow grouping by subject name.
' Problem: Grouping by Subject only shows the subject ID
' Solution: Create a new user field "Subject_" and a new list "AllSubjects" and use the followinng code:
'On Error Resume Next
Set custom = TDConnection.Customization
Set subjlist = custom.Lists.List("AllSubjects")
subj = Bug_Fields("BG_SUBJECT").Value
On Error Resume Next
Bug_Fields("BG_USER_14").Value = subj
On Error GoTo 0
