This is a prelude to install ALM 11 on Production box.
Installed ALM 11 on test server
Exported QC10 project to qcp file
on Test box
Created project by the option: importing data from exported project file. QC returns that the project doesn't exist. Except all the folders and files are copied to the test server but it does NOT show up in the project file listing.
Next: tried to import to an existing project. Now it is reporting the project already exists.
I have to be missing something. Any have simular experience?
According to the ALM QC v11 Administrator Guide -
"You can import data from exported ALM project files created in the same ALM version."
Importing a project created in a previous version is not supported.
If you want to test the upgrade process for your projects, you will have to backup/copy/restore the project database files and project repository to a database server and repository location accessible to your ALM 11 test server. Then you would Restore the project in Site Admin, then Verify, Repair, and Upgrade the project.
Regarding your attempt to import an existing project, according to the Admin Guide:
"If you import a project that was previously exported from the same server, ALM recognizes that the same project already exists on the server, based on the project ID. You can choose to replace the existing project, or cancel the import process."
