auto-fill of a field from Manual Runner workflow

I am trying to auto-fill a user-defined Test Instance field called Actual End Date with the current system date whenever a test within a set in Test Lab changes to a Status of Passed. I have workflow code in the Test Lab script that does this whenever the Status is changed to Passed from the Execution Grid view in Lab. But if someone clicks the Run button to invoke the Manual Runner, the Actual End Date is not updated even though the Status is changed to Passed. There is a Manual Runner script in the workflow, but when the Status value is passed back to the Test Lab workflow script, it does not trigger the update of the Actual End Date field. I have tried putting the code to update Actual End Date in the Manual Runner script with no luck. Any suggestions on how I can get this Test Instance field updated when the Status is updated to Passed via the Manual Runner are much appreciated.

Re: auto-fill of a field from Manual Runner workflow

Try setting it in after post for the run, assuming it is called at the completion of a run and not just when editing a run. If that is not an option add sufficient debug code to work out what subroutines and actions are called at the completion of a run and work from there.

    Cheers,
    Brendan.

Re: auto-fill of a field from Manual Runner workflow

Thanks for the reply Brendan. Putting my code in the AfterPost subroutines still did not result in my Actual End Date field being updated (I tried AfterPost in both the Test Lab and the Manual Runner scripts.) Somehow, it seems some values are passed back to Test Lab from Manual Runner behind the scenes - the Status and the Exec Date, for example. I don't know if we have access to the code that does that.
Ultimately, we came up with a workaround, so I'm no longer beating my head against this problem. I appreciate your very good tip on how to approach the issue, though.

    Thanks,
    Jeff
