Does anyone know the rules when the red paper clip icon (for linked defect) gets displayed?
Testers can do the linking at various times.
1. Run the script and fail a step and create a defect during the run.
2. Run the script and end the run. Go to defect module and log the defect. Go back to the script and link it using the linkage and coverage.
Its seems to be that the #1 above doesn't make the red paper clip get displayed but #2 does.
A defect can be linked to a Step in a Run, a Run, or a Test Instance in the lab. If you link it to the Run, the paperclip doesn't display in the Execution Grid next to the Test Instance. If you link it to the Test Instance, then the paperclip will display.
