Client Installation Error: vcredist_x86.exe
I am the Site admin for our QC10 environment.
I have helped money people with their client side installations but need help with this one. I hope someone can help me figure it out.
User is getting the following message when trying to access the QC10 login screen.
1. vcredist_x86.exe: Cannot download. Check this file is present on server. Close all connections to Server and try again.
-User has admin rights on their computer
-Removed the client using the QC10 client side removal file, opened a new instance of IE and the same error msg.
-removed the client again and installed the client manually, and the same error.
-removed the client, installed the QCExplorer plugin, same error msg
-removed the client, installed the client manually and then tried the QCExplorer plugin, same error
-downloaded the vcredist_x86.exe file from microsoft installed it manually, after restart the same error msg.
Now, since my expertise is specifically with QC, would it make sense (or is it even possible)that there is some company policy that initiates during the boot to remove certain files or changes some settings preventing the Microsoft Visual C++ (vcredist_x86.exe) to be recognized?
I googled this issue and seems that all were resolved by installing the file manually which we tried so im totally stuck.
If there is anyone here that can shed some light on this, perhaps i missed something, i would greatly appreciate your suggestions and help.
Re: Client Installation Error: vcredist_x86.exe
I faced the same issue. You just have to dowmnload it from Microsoft. But make sure you are downloading the right version. By default, google gives you 'Microsoft VC++ 2010 redestributable. Installing that does not solve the problem. You have to install 'Microsoft VC++ 2005 redestributable' to solve this issue. Hope it solves your issue.
