We are planning to use Quality Centre as a version control tool, Will QC 10 support this?, I have gone through the http://update.external.hp.com/qualit..._9_2/GENVC.pdf and it says that plug-in needs to be installed at Administration level, Can any one please let me know the risks as well as its mitigation involved.
Also can this Version control be applied at folder level?
Quality Center now has fully integrated version control. You no longer need to purchase and maintain a third party version control system. Instead, the Quality Center site administrator can enable version control on a per project
Version control enables you to create and manage Quality Center entities including requirements, tests, components, and test resources, while maintaining previous versions of those entities. You can view and compare previous versions of an entity, or restore a previous version.
For more information, refer to the HP Quality Center User Guide.

So, you don't need any plug-in.
Version Control is not applicable at the folder level.

If you mean that you plan to control development artefacts through QC, then... it's a bad idea. If your purpose is to control test artefacts, then QC10 is a possible solution.
I agree with Christian, it might be a possible, but it really depends on what artifacts you want to place in there and if you are going to use other features than just version control.
Not only can you not do it on a folder level, but you cannot do it on a module level either. Version control is by project in Quality Center. So if you just want to version control the requirements yet you have tests in there as well, the tests will also be under version control.
And version 10 is not a delta only version control, it makes full copies. This has caused us havoc with projects using QTP tests that change nearly every day.
