Interactive Tests in QC
I'm not sure if that subject is descriptive enough. I am working with a QC/QTP installation. I've worked with both for a few years, but I'm not an expert in the combined environment.
We have a mix of manual/automated steps in QC where the automated steps are dependent on actual values in the manual steps. Something like this:
Test Set: Test1 --> Test2
Test1 (Manual) - Install software and create user. Actual result: [ tester enters username ]
Test2 - (Automated) - login to AUT with username entered in Test1
I assume there is some way to pass the result from Test1 as a parameter to Test2, but I'm not finding the right reference in documentation. Yes, there are better ways to solve the problem above, but it's just a simplified example.
Any help is appreciated.
Re: Interactive Tests in QC
That's an answer that really depends on your framework.
But if the manual tester is populating the Actual Result field, you can use the OTA API(or a db query) to retrieve that value in QTP.
