BPT in QC & Automate tab

    Hi,

I just started learning BPT in QC. But i am missing something and not getting the connection..

I have QC and QTP versions are 9.2

Here are the details what i did:

In QC, Click on Business Components, and created 3 components like Login, Create Order and Logout.
For Login, i have entered 3 'Design steps' like :
    Open application browser
    enter username
    Enter Pwd
    Click on Login button

    --
Selected the QTP as "Automate Component"
    --
Click on Automation Tab, i see as follows:
    Item Opearation Value Output Document
    Operation manualstep Open application browser
    Operation manualstep enter username
    Operation manualstep Enter Pwd
Operation manualstep Click on Login button

After that i am not getting how to make this as QTP script..

Can any one help me out?

    Thanks
    gsg

Re: BPT in QC & Automate tab

Quality Center has just created a skeleton script for you. You need to open that script in QTP and use standard QTP automation techniques to automate the component. The biggest difference between QuickTest Scripted Components and standard QTP Tests is that you use an Application Area in BPT to define your libraries, object repositories, etc. Then you just associate your QTP scripted component to the Application Area.

Re: BPT in QC & Automate tab

    From the QTP help file:

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Creating an Application Area
When you create a new application area, you define all of the application area settings and resources needed to create a new business component.

To create a new application area:

Connect to the Quality Center project in which you want to save the business component.
This is the Quality Center project that will be used by Subject Matter Experts to define business components and create business process tests. For more information, see Connecting to Your Quality Center Project.

Open the Application Area window by selecting File > New > Application Area.
The application area window contains several panes in which you specify the settings and resource files that you want business components associated with the application area to use. By associating a component with an application area, the component is automatically linked to these settings and resource files.

For more information on the Application Area window, see The Application Area Window.

Specify the application area settings and define its resources.
For information on the available options in each pane, see Application Area Panes.

    Save the application area.
When you save an application area, you assign it a unique name, and you provide a description. This enables Subject Matter Experts to select the correct application area for a component. For more information, see Saving an Application Area.

Re: BPT in QC & Automate tab

    1. Launch QTP
    2. Click on Help >> QuickTest Professional Help
    3. Look for "HP QuickTest Professional for Business Process Testing User Guide"

You'll get better results if you read through it yourself than if I copy/paste sections in here - that's not what this site is really about.
