How I can get statistic on bugs with status Reopen
In a most cases the Reopen status at the end of version switch to Closed or something like, so the question is it possible to get statistic on bug history (i.e. amount of all the bugs that were Reopened)
You can do so by going in to Test Lab. Look for the Test Sets executed for a System Test/ Regression Cycle.
Filter all the Test cases which were failed. Open a spread sheet and start entering the Defects Id's in column and Test cycles in rows. Note you have to skip the first cycle as you are counting for the Re-opened items. Now when you come across a Test case which has failed for more than one time and relates to a defect ID then they are reponed items. This was you can get the metrics.
Test Set1 Test Set2 Test Set 3
Defect_01 Open Passed Re-open
Defect_02 Passed Passed Open
Defect_03 Open Re-Open Re-Open
Total Number of Re-opened defects: 2
Note if you have plenty of test cases then this method would be tedious. We maintain a dash board every System Test cycle which will tell us the Defect Ageing and other related metrics.
I don't build Software but I make them work better, Testing is a Passion
Also you coulduse history table and create Excel Report (for QC 9,2, QC10 support this functionality too, but in the Dashboard module).
You should use SQL like the following:
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
WHERE BUG.BG_BUG_ID IN (
WHERE AUDIT_LOG.AU_ACTION_ID IN (
WHERE AUDIT_PROPERTIES.AP_NEW_VALUE = 'Reopen'
This SQL returns necessary bugs.
