How to show Infos in new fields
I'm a newbie and my english isn't very good but I hope to get help in this forum.
I customize QC 10 the first time.
I've add some new field to show more infos in the defect "register".
In field "TS_USER_02" I type manually a "Reference to" by using the keyboard ;-)
With the follwing script I want to write fill some more new fields.
'Befüllt das Feld Test Name mit dem Testnamen
Bug_Fields("BG_USER_04").Value = Test_Fields("TS_Name").Value
'Bug_Fields("BG_USER_04").Value = "Mein Testname"
Bug_Fields.Field("BG_USER_04").IsReadOnly = true
'Befüllt das Feld Reference To mit Freitext
Bug_Fields("BG_USER_03").Value = Test_Fields("TS_USER_02").Value
Bug_Fields.Field("BG_USER_03").IsReadOnly = true
'Befüllt das Test Set Name automatisch mit dem TestSetNamen
Bug_Fields("BG_USER_05").Value = TestSet_Fields("CY_CYCLE").Value
Bug_Fields.Field("BG_USER_05").IsReadOnly = true
If I create a new Defect by using the DEFECT no new field is filled with the variablen.
Do you have any solutions?
Re: How to show Infos in new fields
There is no complete solution to this. It is not easy for a newbie to do.
The same defect can be linked to different tests. As you have seen, a defect can be created without a test.
In many (or most) cases, defects are created when running a test, and a particular step fails.
Defect links can thus be to one or a combination of Tests, Test Instances, Runs or Steps (mainly). Links can be created/destroyed at any time. And they are not systematically available to see at the time of a workflow event.
You can limit the places where defects are created in QC (if automatic tests like QTP do not create them), by using site and project customization, and then set fields like "the name of the 1st test that caused this defect". You will need a specific procedure depending where defect creation is not blocked (eg from manual runner, from test plan...) If this is really important, you may have to do it outside the standard workflow.
