Monitoring Test Template use
We are currently trying to move to a new scripting model whereby test-cases are primarily constructed by calling existing templates (each of which will define an individual function e.g. login). I am wondering if there is any way to trace what test cases/templates include calls to an existing template so that the effect of changes to a template can be assessed.
We have a template called 'new_client', which is used by several test-cases. Whilst doing a new test case we find we need to modify the functionality of new_client very slightly. What we obviously need to do is assess the impact of this change on existing test-cases but first we need to work out which test-cases include calls to new_client. My issue is I don't know how to do this.....
QC Version is 9.0
Re: Monitoring Test Template use
I create an excel test in the dashboard using the following query:
SELECT DESSTEPS.DS_DESCRIPTION, TEST.TS_NAME /*Design Step.Link Test*/
FROM DESSTEPS RIGHT OUTER join TEST
on DESSTEPS.DS_TEST_ID = TEST.TS_TEST_ID
where DESSTEPS.DS_STEP_NAME = 'Call' ORDER BY DESSTEPS.DS_LINK_TEST /*Design Step.Link Test*/
I hope this is the information you need. You might want to modify it to look for a specific module.
I have posted a question that I think you can help me with about calling tests with parameters. Look for my username.
