QC WorkFlow & OTA
We are trying to execute some macro's that uses OTA. Primaryly these macro creates BPT Test and Components.
We also have QC Workflow defined for each process.
When the macro creates BPT Test or a component , it overrides the condition defined in the workflow.
E.g: If the workflow has a condition to verify the test names are without spaces and add underscore in place of the space character, the OTA macros are able to create test names with spaces.
Is there are possibility to make the OTA macro follow the Workflow without duplicating the workflow code in to the macro. In the sense , is there a way to turn on workflow condition "ON" in a OTA macro.
Re: QC WorkFlow & OTA
Sorry, you cannot have the workflow code running when you use the OTA interface from Excel (which is what you do, I assume, from your use of the word "macro").
The point is that the workflow code is called from the QC user interface. This technique is referred to as "adding scripting to your application". Doing a search on these words give you explanations on how to do it from different programming languages and environments.
So, you have two options :
1. duplicate the workflow code in the macro code.
2. implement an interface to the workflow code from your macro code.
Option 1 is probably easier but more difficult to maintain (any change in your rules would have to be implemented in both the workflow and the macros).
Option 2 is undoubtedly more attractive but requires that you understand how to retrieve the workflow code from QC and how to integrate it to your macro code.
Feel free to post more questions if you follow option 2.
