I would like to export my tesplan from QC into Excel along with the req. coverage information; like the information about which test cases are linked to which requirements.
I don't know if this is possible though an Excel Addin or using a "Excel Reports" option (with SQL) in QC.
Do anyone have a idea how to get this done? Any suggestions on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Exporting testplan to Excel with Req. Cov. info.
The Excel Export Add-In is called "Export" because it's exporting tests/defects/requirements to QC (it's kinda like being an emigrant and an immigrant at the same time ).
If you want to get your data from QC to Excel there are various possibilities like Excel Reports(!), using SQL Tools, workflow and OTA API, and combinations (e.g. use OTA API from VBA module in Excel - there's a recent thread on that).
It really depends on what you feel most comfortable with and what data you want to get out.
You can try the following in Excel Reports to get out test cases that cover requirements:
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>select
t.ts_name "Test Case",
r.rq_req_name "Covers Requirement"
from test t ,req r,req_cover rc
where t.ts_test_id=rc.rc_entity_id and r.rq_req_id=rc.rc_req_id and rc.rc_entity_type like 'TEST'</pre><hr />
