setting up Test Case Review at Folder level?
I want to institute a way of tracking test case review in test plan workflow, but having the flag checked on each test case seems inefficient. I have not seen or found anything to add a test review flag at the parent folder level. Any suggestions?
Also easy way to only display those tests in Test Lab that are in "ready" status.
Re: setting up Test Case Review at Folder level?
Tricky, I assume.
You cannot really customise folders in TestPlan.
Also, if you'd want to include the review info in versions (QC10) you'll find that Test Plan folders are not versioned.
So I'd think along three lines.
1. Using Test Plan only:
a) You could filter for folder contents and replace all values of field "review" with the appropriate value
b) you could change the name of reviewed folders to "Reviewed - ...".
Then, you could, of course, use a workflow button to automate all of that, so (selected?) users would only have to select a folder, click a button and select desired review status. This would be then replaced for all test cases below the folder.
2. Using Test Plan and Requirements
If you're using the requirements module and linking from there anyway, you could customise this nicer. Requirement module's folders are requirements themselves, so you can add any fields and automation you wish. There you maybe won't need a button to trigger, because there are plenty of events to trigger code.
3. Using Test Plan and Defects
The Defects module is very stable and has plenty of customisation options. I had done a pilot once, where I added the defect type "Review". This made it possible to also manage review cycles in parallel.
This requires significantly more fiddling and seems to be a bit over the top in your case.
