General Quality Center 9.2 Questions
this is my first time posting but I have been lurking for awhile collecting all sorts of useful information about QTP which has helped me greatly so I am hoping I can get some answers that will be helpful about Quality Center 9.2
We are in the process of finally installing QC and I have taken the Web Based training courses from HP for it but the training courses have left me with a few questions I can't seem to find the answers to.
How does the Release Module really work?
I mean I see that I can create a release for a particular application and associate test sets and requirements to it but I don't see how test results are associated to it at all.
What I mean is lets say I am on release 4.0 of a application and the customer, for whatever reason, wants to see the results of release 2.0...Where can I find that information?
Are Risk Assessments associated to releases in any form?
The risk assessment tool seem to be useful but it only appears to work with requirements.
Each release of an application would require a different risk assessment for the requirements, I would think, so how would I go back to release 2.0 to look at the risk assessment and compare it to 4.0?
Finally, when working with automated test cases with QTP, how would you take the output of one test case and utilize it in another test case and how would you do this through QC?
Ok so lets say I am testing an user registration for an application and one test goes through the registration process and another test will be an admin logging in to approve or reject the users request based on a unique identification number.
Utilizing just QTP I would use a text file or exel file or whatever to store the identification number but what is the best way to do this in quality center?
Thanks for all the answers you can give me I really appreciate it.
Re: General Quality Center 9.2 Questions
regarding your final question, You can still use the existing text file or excel file to store the value. Using QC doesn't change the way you automate your scripts. QC helps you in managing your automated test cases, in this case.
