Step_Params Table / SP_KEY
The actual parameter value used in a manual test step execution is not displayed in the Test Parameters: section in the Description for a Defect when a Defect is generated during a Manual Test run. Other info such as test set name, test name, step name, etc. are provided. The title Test Parameters: is displayed but no data. Presumably this is a QC bug.
Read the actual parameter value used from the Step_Params table and using custom workflow, modify the Defect description Test Parameters: section and insert the parameter value.
Where True is False and False is True:
When I look at the QC DB Reference, it says SP_KEY is ...
"The string representation of the record ID of the instance to which the parameter belongs in the table specified by SP_ENTITY "
BUT guess what? SP_Key is empty for all rows in the Step_Params table. I know its empty because this SQL returns no rows:
SELECT * FROM STEP_PARAMS where sp_key <> '' (those are two single quotes at the end of the sql query).
BUT guess what? SP_Key is NOT empty also. I know its not empty because this SQL returns no rows:
SELECT * FROM STEP_PARAMS where sp_key = ''
So, at the same time, SP_KEY is empty and NOT empty. True is False. False is True. A is not A and Aristotle is rolling over in his grave.
What the heck am I missing?
