I have a developer who is unable to update the status of a defect even though his permissions for the Developer Group are clearly marked to allow him to do so. We are seeing the "You do not have the proper permissions to execute this action." error message. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is there a fix for it?
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to."
This has been a problem for us as well. We find that the defect statuses hard-coded into QC do not fit our needs, so we have workflow code that redirects the Status field to use a different list. The problem is, the default user groups have hard-coded, non-changeable restrictions on which statuses each user group can move to/from. Since we don't use those values, the default groups are less than useless to us.
I suspect the issue is related to this. It may be that the "Status" permission is checked under "Modify Defect" but you have to actually select that Status line and see which values the group can set from which values. If those don't match your needs, create your own user groups based off the default groups and adjust those status options in your new groups.
