Test Case management in QC
I am a regular user of Test Director , however due to license issue we have stopped using the tool.
Now I have arround 250 test cases with different test conditions already written in 250 separate excel files with me at present.
I want to know can I use QC for test case management? What I want to do is.
1.Upload these 250 test cases in a repository can I use the already present excel files or will i have to put them in a specific template?
2. Assign them to 10 different testers. Now when i assign them to individuals they login with their user id/password and start testing activity, on completing which they mark it as passed/failed.
However each individual can edit only his/her assigned test cases and does not have rights to edit someone elses testcase status.
Is all this possible in QC?
Looking forward for a reply.
Re: Test Case management in QC
Quality Center has an Excel addin so you can import tests from Excel. You need to map the Excel fields to QC fields. You may need to have it set up so the fields have their own column rather than their own row.
Setting the responsible tester field is easy in QC but I think it would be easier to ask people to test the items assigned to them and leave the others. You could create different test sets and assign the test sets to the testers so they stick to their test set folder.
