Query - Generic Traceability Matrix
I guess this is one of the first when I am surfing this site when I am no more working as automation script developer and more of trying to come up with some suggestions for my current assignment. With back again to manual QA processes, my current objective is to maximize savings with minimizing costs & efforts. And as my initial thoughts I am trying to come up some sort of one single report that should answer below questions
- How many requirements do I have for a given project?
- Should be able to provide brief summary of below
# Number of associated test plan for each defined requirement
# Number of assoicated test cases for each test plan in a given test run cycle
# status of each test set run for each test plan in a given test run cycle
# Any associated defects and its status
- Shoulb be able to put something in summary that states
# % coverage of requirements
# % coverage of test execution
We have some sort of reporting but it is doesn't provide much info and also it takes 30 minutes each day to generate that info. My objective is not to reduce the time but to have more info in our current report generation. If above is possible with some sort of SQL that I can use in Excel Query tool in QC or if any other suggestions that will be great. I look forward to your replies and clues so I can get started on this. Thanksin advance!
Re: Query - Generic Traceability Matrix
I suggest using Excel spreadsheets not the Excel Query tool.
I use Excel and QC API to connect to the QC project to pull metrics on test case execution as well as reports to represent performance on test case creation.
