What is BPT & its workflow?
What have you done in QC-what is the flow in QC?
Thanks & Regards,
Your question is very unfocused so I will try to give some initial answers but it will help if you are more specific about it.
BPT stands for Business Process Testing, this is an approach and functionality introduced by Mercury/HP into QC to help non-technical users work with Automated Components (mainly QTP). It can also be used for manual testing, but my take is that it complicates matters and you are better off with the regular manual testing capabilities of QC.
There are 2 types of users for BPT:
SME - Subject Matter Experts - usually non technical users who know the system but lack automation or even technical skills
Automation Engineers - who lack deep knowledge in the application but know their testing tool inside-out and upside-down.
The main BPT flow is as follows:
1. SME defines a test with the help of Components. She does this by taking existing Business Components and combining them into test.
If the SME stumbles into the case where the component does not exist (or needs to be modified) she can create a new component, define it using manual steps and pictures, and submit it for automation.
2. The Automation Engineer receives the request for a new component and starts developing it with the help of the tool. Once it is ready he changes the status to Ready.
3. When the SME receives the notification that his test is ready (meaning that all components can be run). she can go and run this tests as a regular automated test from QC's Test Lab.
*-*-*- End of Flow -*-*-*
Again, this is the very synthesized explanation. If you have a more specific question go ahead and ask it...
Thank you very much, i have an interview on BPT next week are there any other questions that can be asked
Just make sure to go over your QTP and Keyword Driven Testing information, just in case they where to ask something about it.
