How would you copy tests using OTA?
I recently got assigned a small (but hard) customizing task. I need to provide a function which allows users to copy tests. (No Ctrl + c and Ctrl + v since there are many tests to copy at once.)
The function need to be nested in Workflow module of QC and therefore should make use of OTA. I looked up the OTA guide and found a 'copy test' example but it didn't work.
The only way I could think of was.. create a new test and copy every fields from original test. But it never look intelligental..
Can anyone think of better solution? Any help would be appreciated.
Re: How would you copy tests using OTA?
What is the problem with CTRL+C and CRTL+V? You can select multiple tests, you don't need to do it test by test. Can probably copy entire folders as well, but not sure as I don't use the GUI too much.
Do you have to use workflow or can you provide a little custom app. to do it? It is not too hard to build a simple GUI using standard MS objects that allows you to connect to QC select the tests you want and copy them to another location. I did this to copy between projects as the two projects had different customisations so I had to transform the data before I could do the copy. I'm not sure if there is a better way than copying field by field either. As I had numerous fields where I had to change the data first I had to create a new test in test and set each field one by one.
