Hello all. I first used these forums about 7 years ago when I got my first job in testing and didn't really know the ropes. This website was a great source of info. The problem now is that I'm in a rut and am wondering what to do next. Changing employers is an option. But really I'm thinking about changing roles or maybe even countries. What have others done?
Well what are you stuck in right now? Just a tester position? If that's the case then look for some new initiatives to introduce. Do they do automated testing right now? If not then try producing a proof of concept with some open source tools and show it to them. Maybe they'll let you head up this project if they like what they see. Is there anywhere else that is lacking that you think you could improve.
Otherwise a change in environment might be the best solution. I know a ton of contractors and their main motivation for contracting is that they get to see a new product every 6 months. If you're with a company who only produces a single product, or just a couple products, then it takes a lot to maintain interest in it.
9 out of 10 people I prove wrong agree that I'm right. The other person is my wife.
