I'm asked to set up QA environment for web based application. The environment should mimic the Production data. I've never done this before but I'm extreamly excited to know this.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Life is all about sharing & learning
What data do you have? You should probably be looking at web stats first to get a feel for what people using the application are running on their systems as far as OS and browsers.
9 out of 10 people I prove wrong agree that I'm right. The other person is my wife.
Did you tell them that you have no experience with similar project?
QA Environment for what Performance testing or Functional Testing.
Yes I did tell them that I dont have any experience with the same. But again I want to do it myself and this is the reason i want some basic help and understanding.
This is web based application developed on C# and I need to do the functional testing.I even did some research but couldn't find a way.
If you need further details please let me know.
Think about what do you need to test and set up QA environment accordingly.
Ideally you need the following test environments:
Development (Developers Play pen loosely controlled, simple)
System Test (Controlled by the Testers, functionality equivalent to production)
Pre-Prod (Should be a replica of production)
Ideal very rarely happens and you must be aware of the deficiencies in such wrt impact on testing.

i fully agree to what robert is stating...
If you just get to set up 2 environments, you should share your environment with the user community, never with developers...
That should be mostly selfspeaking but ok - wanted to give my 2 eurocents...
Thanx all for you support..
