Do anyone knows what is the career path for test manager?
Can a test manager be promoted to quality manager and manage IT process improvement ?
Would this be benefit if I have intention to change to IT Audit?
Any experience with the SDLC can assist auditing an IT department... now describe to me what you mean by "IT Audit" (I've seen very varying job descriptions for "IT Auditor" and am curious what your understanding of the title is)
It depends on the duties of the Test Manager or QA Manager. If those positions do not involve significant work with process, procedure, and the SDLC, I would say they would be of no benefit. If they do, I would say it would help you move over.
In your region, is such a move promotional? In this region, it would be unusual for someone to want to move from a management position to an IT auditor position.
As a test manager, what i'm exposed to is to manage all testing releted stuff for IT development teams e.g. test planning, test cases, test strategy etc.
Actually Test manager moving to IT audit is NOT a promotional movement here. I am asking just because I'm interested in IT Audit, tried to jump into this field but still not successful although I got pass in CISA cert exam. I'm always thinking that if I can get more experiences on QA side it could make me easier to jump into IT Audit (while I've already got plenty experience on appl development & SDLC before)..but now it seems to me that, QA=testing only. Perhaps my thinking initially is wrong?
