I am Tom Ohlendorf, I am from the government and I am here to help.
Seriously, I work for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the agency known to most of US citizens as Medicare and by the seniors as "Oh, you people". I work in the Office of Information Services, Information Systems Design and Development Group, Division of Medicare Advantage and Part D Testing and Reporting. I know, a mouthfull but what it comes down to is testing oversite of the various contractors responsible for the construction of Medicare Advantage and Part D systems.
I have been involved in QA and Testing for approximately 15 years. Prior to that I was in the evil empire of software development.
My division is a new one based on a reorganization built around the whole Medicare Modernization Act and the development of the Prescription Drug plans. However, like most government operations, things old become new again and this is the third iteration of a SQA and structured testing program I have been involved in. The big difference here is that there is actually a division dedicated to it, a division director that making it work, and upper management buy in. Keys to success as far as I am concerned.
For now I will probably be doing more reading and question asking than posting. I look forward to being an active part of the community.
Help you say? I think it safe to say that some of us here need counseling. You could do some initial assessment in the Chit-Chat forum.
Anyway, QA and QC seem to represent most of what is cussed and discussed here. Some of those some would say, "Speak for yourself Jake." I would begin with helping those.
