    A testing question

Assume we have application A which interfaces with Application B (through some interface software) and application B interfaces Application C( through another interface). At the end of application C, we get the result. If the developer make some changes to application B and change the Rev. # to a new one but does not change Application A or C. How are we supposed to go about testing of this system to ensure we get the same result at the end of application C.

    Thanks

    Re: A testing question

The trick with this question is that you need to ask some questions about it before you can give a reasonable answer. I would think that the interviewer was trying to ascertain your abilities to ask for additional information.

    Re: A testing question

Answering facts, and answering questions for analytical ability are two different things. Also how do you know that they were happy with all of your other answers?

I have used similar types of questions for positions and I would expect the right type of response to this for a junior position, I would not be looking for a specific answer but how the person chose to answer it.

    Re: A testing question

Then it doesn't sound like messing up that one was the reason you didn't get the job. In what way did you "mess up?" Did they tell you what answer they expected?

As Lynne implied, the question prompts (or should prompt) more questions. If you were unable to think along those lines, then I can see why they might not consider you qualified to be a "Senior QA Eng."
