The reason you evaluate a software package (Automated testing software or otherwise) is to see if it fits your needs, your situation, and your evironment/culture as a company.
Since it is an automated testing tool you are asking for help on....
Have you installed the application on your system?
Have you seen how it interfaces with the AUT you plan to use it against?
Have you scheduled a POC from the vendor to have them show you all that it is supposed to be able to do?
Have you worked out a period of time where you can use a temporary license and work with the tool in house?
Has time been set aside specifically for this effort (meaning it is a project that someone is assigned to to focus specifically on seeing how this application will work for you, determining the application?)
What is training going to be like?
Thank you for the info..
See our's is a very small company and I'm soley person working on this evalution and we dont have any AUT document as such.
So, I would request you to provide me the AUT format as soon as possible.
A single person evaluating is not unusual - however from previous posts you are a QA Lead to 10 people so you do have people that you can ask questions of and discuss ideas with.
The basic steps that Tony outlined are necessary to find the correct tool for your needs. 2 tings that I would add to it are a list of requirements of what I expect from the tool and a set of test cases that I would plan to prove the tool against the requirements and that I could use on any tool that I would be including in the evaluation.
