I am interested to make my career in Testing as I feel it challenging and interesting, As I am having 1+ yr of Exp in Development, I have little bit idea about S/W Testing.
I need guidance regarding what documents we have maintain during Testing, For Testing any specific application On which points we should concentrate as Tester, How do we start with different level of Testing for particular application, How can we define test cases other than requirement Specification document ?
Since you are already working in an organization as a Developer, mu suggestion is go through the Testing policy of ur current organization. From this u will come to know basic Testing Framework and then if u go thru books, it will be easy to understand the things
As you are currently in the development field, and you want to switch to testing, I would take a phased approach.
As a developer you have the great opportunity to apply component testing at your level. Start learning test techniques for the component and component integration test levels. By showing your capabilities like this, you will have a big advantage: you will have a lot of friends within development that trust you and know that you want to help them with improving their code, and not just throw them a lot of failures.
These test activities also need to be managed, estimated, and reported, so you can gain knowledge in the test management field to.
Then you can gradually move on to the more functional testing/acceptance testing (if you still like it of course). At this point you'll already have a lot of very useful background on development and testing to do a great testing job.
