    Recommended UK conferences/exhibitions ?

It's about time I started mixing and mingling and networking with some of my fellow UK testers.

So what are the good conferences/exhibitions to go to ?

    Re: Recommended UK conferences/exhibitions ?

    Philk10,
there are a number of conferences that occur in the UK every year and one that only appears every few that are worth attending:

http://www.sigist.org.uk/default.asp?mode=home: this happens a few times a year and is worth attending at least once, for 100 pounds you get a good mix of talks at most of the events. Much praise due to the committee and espacially Mark Fewster (Grove) for consistently finding quality talks.

http://www.qbit-testing.com/ occurs a couple of times a year, the next is in April in London and is free; there are a mix of invited speakers and vendors who have stands there who are giving talks. Lots of consultancies there too trying to sell their services, which is the same at most "shows" but is one of the key parts that keep this event free.

There is the Eurostar in the UK this year (the first since the one in Scotland which I think was 2000's) which is an excellent event and gets around 700 people in from across Europe, you are too late to submit a talk for this years, but some excellent speakers I know already have - full programme will be posted in May on the site:
    http://www.qualtechconferences.com/content.asp?id=2

There is also the SQS conference (previously ICS-Test) in London in October, which still has an open call for papers: http://www.sqs-conferences.com/uk/call/call_2.htm which runs till the end of April. I have spoken here before and in the German sister event and I have to say it is an excellent and well run conference. I think you have the sort of story that would be of interest to them (from the blogs) and it might be worth submitting a paper. (I am intending too). Bob Bartlett and the team have made this an excellent event to attend.

It is also worth checking out local BCS events and there are a number of smaller peer conferences starting to appear in the UK most of which get announced in the open season in the BCS meetings, the James Lyndsay organised LEWT being one and I am aware of a possible automation conference that hopefully will be announced soon for London this year.

It is also worth checking out some of the none test ones, which are focussed at the "agile" world such as Agile Business run by the DSDM consortium and the XP days too.

Thanks for the detailed answer Neill, looks like I wont have any time for work...

I'd come across a couple of those that you mention but didn't know if they were worth attending or not.

I'd like to - and am looking forward to - being more involved but I don't think I'm quite up to submitting a paper yet, but thanks for the comments about my blog !
