I am the test lead for a hospital implementing various SW projects. The health case industry is seeing a jump in SW development and use. It has very diverse users and extremely critical requirements as one can imagine. The requirements are sometimes affected by government regulations. Quite different from the 'usual' tech house and very interesting. I am interested in talking with others in this or similar environments.
We also deal with state & federal regulators related to insurance - what types of questions do you have?
Life should NOT be a trip to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an cool and well preserved body, but rather to skid in, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body wrecked, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!
Ditto with banking, and many federal and state organizations. I've also worked with chemical and pharmaceutical firms; similar implications.
Actually, now that I think of it, quite a few "usual" tech houses have regulations that need to be incorporated into testing requirements. Even retail concerns have commerce laws and special security functions to consider. One of the primary differences between the fields, however, is that human life is in the balance in the health care and social services fields.
