    QA Technical Test?

Hi. I have an interview on Monday and was told I would have to take a QA technical test. I have no idea what this would be. In my interviews over the last 6 months the interviewers ask technical questions but I've never been asked to take what I assume is some kind of paper test.

Has anyone taken one or have any idea what I should cram for this "test"?!

    Thanks.

BTW I have 15 years experience as senior QA Engineer with varied platforms and test tools etc. F/T and consulting.

    Re: QA Technical Test?

Ok well thanks for all the replies.
    (I changed my name.)
I guess that shows how many people have to
take a test when they interview. Dumb huh?!
Yea I was the first persone they decided to implement and test it on.
It took me 30 minutes which is kind of a waste
of time. The test involved writing a letter in reply
    to an angry customer.
Then writing a test plan given some specs and then
writing some sql code given some tables and a
    problem.

    CyberDave

Not that I agree with formal testing, I pretty much achieve the same in an informal manner via asking questions along similar lines. If a job requires SQL skills, then indeed a few tricky questions like for a given ER diagram write a table join and for a given data set, what results would the following SQL command return... etc. If this is what they expect you to do on the job, I don't see an issue at all with it.

What has happened is that in the past the question was can you test ? ..... these days its more like can you test this application on this platform using this version of a particular tool.

    Re: QA Technical Test?

I know this thread is a really old, however someone someone might find this helpful.

I have heard of people been asked to analyse or write small segements of code when applying for technical automated testing roles.

I have also been asked about SQL examples.

It all depends on the types of role that you are applying for.
