    Developer question or?

Recently created OS images of WinXP Pro and WinXP Home +SP2 for either OS.

The difference for WinXP Pro was that I used a bootable CD with a copy of a HARD DISK for which our company has a registered ACTIVATION key.

Problem: A particular software NOW doesn't work on WinXP Pro, but works on WinXP Home after using an Install script file (ISscript8.msi).

Question to the FORUM, who else has run into problems with software not working on WinXP Pro but on WinXP Home?

    Thanks for your input,

    Re: Developer question or?

Is the install failing on XP Pro, or is the software failing after the install? If the install is failing, are you getting any sort of error message? If so, that should be the first place to look.

If the install is failing, but you aren't getting any useful messages, you might try enabling install logging in the registry. The below can be put into a .reg file and imported on your test box.

;This will enable logging for installations (useful for debugging.)
;The logs will be placed in the user's temp directory.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\Installer]
