Are there any other places where customers meet with test company?

    Hello,

Are there any other places (like eLance) where customers meet with QA/QC software companies?

    Thanks

I think the lack of replies to your question are due to the lack of detail in your question. I'll take a stab at what you are asking - the company I work for we (SQA) do have interaction with our major customer's in that we have QA Focus groups to review requirments and tests cases - the customer lends their opinion on whether there are certain user scenarios that we should add to our test cases. It is very successful and our clients feel that they are part of the process.

Re: Are there any other places where customers meet with test company?

We're trying to share our automated testing with our customers....they would buy our testing framework, write some test cases and make sure they run OK, hand the test cases back to us, and we'll integrate them into future automated test runs....the customer gets the 'benefit' of knowing that their work (which they shouldn't have to do in the first place) ensures the future quality of our product.

The backlash of this idea are the customer demos, training dry runs with them, demo copies of our framework installed at the client site, and eventually the endless questions like, 'Why don't you use record/playback? This seems very inefficient.'

Sometimes it takes such an activity to find out how clueless your management is....

Back in the real world, customer requests should of course feed requirements. Some companies handle that by having their QA people work directly with the customers. (Hint: It's usually because nobody else wants to do it). If everything we do was in our job description, people would be hired to handle such interaction that like doing those kinds of things, or it would be spelled out in the applicable job description. What I'm getting at is a lot of places don't say it's required and then put people up to do it.

Sorry to rant...I need a new job....

I suppose you could also define customers. Development is one of our customers, and Product Support is too. We answer to both of them, as everyone is someone's customer. But when referring to Corporate customers, yes, we also converse with our customers both directly and indirectly.
