Is release management close to testmanagement?
Maybe an assignment as release manager will be on my path. Well, why not.
It sounds like very close to testing and the release process from the testing point of view.
With testing and testprocesses also Version control and Configuration management and even product management are to be considered as important input/output points.
So as far as I see it, release management is very close to a testprocess and releasing software from that point of view.
I would expect that release management also handles
- distribution of software
- communication between all stakeholders (what also a task is of test-coordinators)
Has someone more ideas about the comparability between testmanagement / Release management?
Re: Is release management close to testmanagement?
I have seen situations where the release manager was also the build manager and others where they were more of a configuration manager. At that point it becomes a "what ever floats your boat" situation.
