I'd like to kindly ask those, who is reading this message, how do you prefere to get the SoftWare: from the Internet or order in on CDs?
Please, kindly answer. It's very interesting subject for me and i'll be wery thankfull to you for any help, you can provide.
Are you talking software in general, or a specific package?
I prefer to get software on CD. That way, the original install is always available. Downloading from internet can lead to corruptions, and if you don't burn it off to CD, you lose it if you ever lose the machine you downloaded it to.
When I want a piece of software it depends on what it is. Shareware, freeware, or commercialware. The first two, I want it NOW! so I download it. But the latter type usually comes with a lot of help and info files and a reloadable original, like Darrel said and I'll wait a few days for it.
Personally, I have bought numerous software off the Internet: Top Style, HomeSite, Paint Shop Pro, Norton, CSE HTML Validator, ZoneAlarm Pro, Perfect Tracker, EditPro, and some others.
I have never had a problem with corruption. (Most companies account for that and allow you re-download anyway should that happen.) I usually burn my own backup CD's of all my software. That way I have it on one CD that I can lug around with me, rather than having six or seven original CDs. Most help manuals or documentation come with the online distributions anyway (just as they do with the bundled CD) so that has never been a problem. I can always re-install if I need to because you have the original installation executable that you got when you purchased the product.
