When I went to submit the changes - there was no submit button - I believe that there were three buttons and two of them said "Edit Post" and "Preview Post." I forget what the third one said! (Maybe "Spell Check" - I know poorly written defect report!)
Anyway, I was expecting the "Edit Post" button to say "Submit Post." I already pressed the edit button to get to the editing page.
Figured I'd share in case others have experienced or thought the same thing!!
Re: A bug in editing posts? Or Working As Designed?
When you click the Edit/Delete Post link, you have three buttons:
Edit Post, Preview Post, Spell Check
If you reply to a post, you have three buttons:
Add Reply, Preview Post, Spell Check
If you submit a new topic, you have three buttons:
Add New Topic, Preview Post, Spell Check
As to whether those are the way the buttons should be labeled (i.e., as per design), only AJ can answer that. But the Edit Post button on the Edit page is meant to signify: "OK, I have made my changes to the text area. Edit the (already existing) post." Yes, you are technically submitting so I suppose a good case could be made for a "Submit Post". (On the other hand, the post has already been submitted. You are simply editing the already-submitted post.)
If the wording is causing significant amounts of confusion perhaps AJ would change it. Personally, I never really gave it too much thought simply because I equated the button action with my action: editing the post. (I suppose one could argue for "Submit Changes" or something like that as well but, contextually it makes sense to me. After all, I click the New Topic link and the button is Add New Topic but that does not cause confusion as to what action the button will take. But that is just me.)
