Re: recommend books on software testing/process/methods/etc?
First, get "Testing Computer Software, 2nd Edition" by Cem Kaner, et al. - All the mechanics of testing.
Second, get "How to Break Software" by James Whittaker. - Concise guide on how to "pound" on software and find defects quickly.
Third, "Managing the Testing Process: Practical Tools and Techniques for Managing Hardware and Software Testing, 2nd Edition" by Rex Black - Pulls together the information needed to manage and report on testing.
Those are my top three. They are written with real world practicality focus. These 3 books are straight forward reads. Other books tend to get into too much theory and process structure.
The new book from Elfriede Dustin I have not read yet, so I cannot comment on it. The other 3 I have read (either 1st or 2nd edition).
