Documentation on OS/Office versions
I apologize if this has been covered but I couldn't find a similar thread already on this. If their is one please let me know where it is.
As part of my testing I need to verfiy builds on various OS/Office configurations. The company that I'm at perfers that the configs be the oldest ones possible in hopes that builds that pass on that will pass on the newer ones. Right now I need to set up one on the earliest NT 4.0 sp 6 WorkStation with the earliest version of Office 2K. My problem is I ame having a problem finding documentation that will tell me what these versions are. Does anyone know of a place that lists out the various versions of the OSs & what versions of what came with them? Thanks.
Re: Documentation on OS/Office versions
When we needed to find out about different versions of Outlook, a developer and I ended up culling Microsoft updates, trying to find out how many service packs existed for Outlook 2000 and 2002. It actually wasn't that easy - we just had to infer some information from the information we were given. There may be an easier way of doing this, but I'm not sure what it would be.
I would definitely caution against going only with oldest configs. We have found issues in XP that don't occur in W2K. We have found issues with Outlook 2002 that don't occur with Outlook 2000. Basically, if your company says it supports it, you should probably be verifying that you do.
