SQL server installations
I am hoping that someone else has had this experience:
I have a machine running Win2k/Sql2k and needed to uninstall Sql2k and install Sql7...don't ask....i did this...received no error messages...and my databases were set up, and product ran fine on the Sql 7 platform. I now need to upgrade to Sql2k again, and the install disk does not recognize that i have Sql 7 installed already and is only prompting me for a clean install instead of an upgrade. I double-checked the registry setting and all is clean of Sql2k.
Has anyone here ever attempted this in their testing? I'm at a loss for why i can't upgrade.
Re: SQL server installations
We figured it out...In case anyone ever has to do this. Sql2000 is incompatible with the developers' edition of Sql 7...meaning, if you try to upgrade to Sql2k from the dev edition of SQL 7, it will not recognize that version.
