Testing of User Manuals
In my company User manuals are written by Technical documentation department. QA is responsible for validating the contents of those manuals as legally software is supposed to function as described in the manual. Are there any guidelines available on how to validate manuals.
Re: Testing of User Manuals
Don't know if there are specific guidelines. For verifying content, just ensure the software does what the manual says it will do. I usually verify grammar and links separately from verifying content - I just find it easier if I separate the two tasks.
What sort of help file is it? I've never had experience with chm files but I would assume you would also need to verify the search capabilities but I'm not sure.
