Engineering Says QA Plans and Support Plans Are Design Components
In our push to get our developers to hold Design Reviews, the VP of Engineering is saying that QA Plans, Support Plans, etc.
are also "design components" and should be subject to the same reviews as software and hardware design components. I agree that Plans should be reviewed, but not sure if the actual review process is the same as for software and/or hardware components. Perhaps the same attendees (e.g. Product/Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, etc.), but a "Plan Review" to me, would center on a review of the documented plan whereas a review of software/hardware would be more of a "brainstorming" session. Maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe they are all subject to the same type of design review process? Thoughts?

Turn about is fair play! Yes, it is important for QA/Test to play by the same rules that you want the development engineers to play by. Subject your work to the same process as the engineers. It will give you a better appriciation of the process, and will good will from engineering.
Plus, it's good process.
