having or Not having separate QA teams?

Is it wise to have QAs not as a team but part of a module of a project which will have 2 developer,1 QA like that.

Or is it wise to have a separate QA team for the whole project.

Re: having or Not having separate QA teams?

    Hi shyam,

Based on my experience in both environments, i feel a better mode is to have QAs within the module teams. I've seen it be more productive and effective mode.
May be the question we have to ask is : To whom should these QAs report : To the project manager or the QA Manager?

    bye

Ideally, if each member appreciates the strengths and abilities the others bring to the group, then a cooperative effort can be quite valuable and efficient.

However if they don't, and a "we're better than they are" attitude exists, then a separation is usually necessary so that management level individuals can be brought to address disputes and dictate resolutions. If the separation doesn't occur the product either ships late (QA in charge) or the product goes out buggy (Development in charge).
