XP versus Win2k
I am responsible for QA and upper management in its superior wisdom has spoken:
"it may be worth adding an installer test for XP for 1.1. If it installs and passed the smoke test, that that is fine for XP support, since 2k is so similar.
The boss has sent this response to the support department so it has become policy already.
Is there anyway to put a positive spin on this?
Re: XP versus Win2k
umm - I've had a lot of luck with stuff running on XP. Maybe you'll be fine?
Do your best to get a full regression test on XP. I don't know what your application is/does, but there are enough differences that a smoke test might just not do it.
2K and XP are similar in a lot of ways (I'd say more similar than NT is to 2K) but still.
