I'm working on a project and they want me to perform my Testing and also coordinate User Acceptance Testing at the same time. Does anyone have an idea of how I should coordinate this? Please help! Thanks in advance!
We have run across this situation a few times and even though it is not the best solution, we used the users to help us test.
We asked them to first run our test scripts and then we add any special cases that they would like to see.
They also helped verify the output and validate numbers on financial reports.
It is not the best way to test but it was a very positive experience for us. The users got to see what QA does and we got to learn a little more about what the users look for.
In the past I have been asked to do UA or UAT work. I try to avoid it as it really is the responsibility of the end user. I once was assigned 2 concurrent roles, being Systems Test Manager for the vendor and User Acceptance Manager for the Customer on the same project. Boy was that a conflict of interest. Getting a specialist tester to conduct UAT is really a waste of time. As a user Acceptance Test Manager I had to completely avoid any technical issues and just co-ordinate the Business Analysts they gave me who more or less ran with it anyway.
I guess that is the answer...you will need to act purely as a facilitator.
