    Re: test bed

actually i just got the answer after doing some search in the net. Test Bed is a webtesting, which means test the data/application in their environment.

Do you agree with this definition.

    Re: test bed

Refer to this traditional book "The Complete Guide to Software Testing" by Bill Hetzel Second Ed. page 147. Test bed or better know as Enviroment Simulator.

    Re: test bed

Words or terms mean whatever a group (large, small, in-between) of people agree on. For instance, I have yet a different understanding of this term , closer to what is reflected in the book, Automated Software Testing (Elfriede Dustin, et al)in 8.1.11: "Groups of reusable test procedures and scripts are usually maintained in a catalog or library of test data comprising a testbed."

Also see the last entry in "Difference between TestBed & TestSuite" from 3/2001: http://www.qaforums.com/Forum15/HTML/000584.html

The thing to keep in mind is that what matters is how you define it within YOUR organization. I have heard it more in reference to automation as well, but it *can* apply to test beds used for manual data as well.

Just define what it will be and how it will be created within your organization, and don't worry about the rest. As long as some accepted resources agree with what you're doing, and you're not totally off base, it shouldn't be an issue.

    Re: test bed

    Test Bed = Simulated system

Used in system testing and includes:

All hardware (preferably the same as the intended platform but not as many clients as you woudl have in real life. get real!))
    Intended O/S, drivers etc
    The System Under test
    The Initial data set

I.e. everything you should have in a system test apart from the actual test data and test procedures
