I agree on both points. I'm not always sure though that it's in the interest of survival of the company but sometimes the actuallization of the second of Deming's 7 Deadly Diseases.

A lot of the "get yours first" attitudes from the school of the 80's seems to be prevalent these days. Remember the "How to succeed in business without really trying" and it's ilk....
