Network management testing
I am testing a tool which monitors and controls Network Elements e.g. routers, Bridges,UPS,etc. I have performed all other Gui Testing and functional testing of gui objects.
Please tell me if you have any details regarding testing of MIB,SNMP,Protocol testing.
Re: Network management testing
I'll suggest some commercial products that do network management testing.
There are at least 2 types of testing in the areas you mentioned:
1) Your product has an SNMP agent and you need to verify it can be managed correctly by other network management products. To verify your implementation of SNMP is correct, you can use commercial SNMP testers such as InterWorking Laboratories SilverCreek SNMP tester or SimpleSoft's Simple Tester. Both companies offer trial versions of their products. You could also use IBM's NetView or HP's OpenView network managers and see if they manage your agent correctly.
2) Your product will be the "network manager". This is much tougher. You will need to correcly manage many different implementations of the SNMP standard and be ready to handle all sorts of strangeness. You might want to look at NetView or OpenView to see the functionality they offer.
