I'm looking for information on testing multi-threaded applications, especially Java.
It's the "multi-threaded" aspect that I'm particularly interested in.
Does anybody know any good references please ?
I dealt once with scalable application firing additional instances (processes, not threads).
As for my experience one has to pay attention to:
1) firing new instances,
2) terminating idle instances,
3) what's happening during attempt to start one more instance when maximal number of instances are currently running,
4) load balancing between all current instances,
5) memory management for all previously described cases.
In case of multithreaded application you need additional tool to monitor all threads (in my case I was able to use standards OS tools and API to keep track of different instances on NT).
