QA of SAP
I was wondering if anyone can describe or provide a checklist of blueprint QA related questions?
What are the sort of QA related areas to check during blueprint phase of SAP?
Do you mean "QA", as in they conform to a certain template or contain specific sections and details? Or do you mean "testing", as in what questions should you be asking as a tester / test manager to assist in teasing out requirements to be able to test better?
Different system integrators will have different formats for their blueprint templates, some are better and more detailed than others. Generally you should have a functional spec detailing the functional requirements, a fit/gap assessment linking to a requirements traceability matrix, and a technical spec detailing the config/development required to match the functional spec and RTM (the tech spec may be incorporated into the FRS).
You'll want to check that your RTM maps to either an ARIS flow or your processes in Solman (if you're using either of these), or at least a set of visio diagrams, and you'll want to see a WRIEF register for any developments.
Some integrators include a section in each blueprint doc for test conditions relating to the functional requirements, some don't. These will link eventually to your unit tests, but you'll usually need to gather business scenarios separately.
Coming in to a new project I would want to see from the Blueprint phase:
- Overall project plan, plus a delivery plan for each workstream (including data, don't forget about those guys....)
- Process model of the to-be state (ARIS, Solman, Visio, etc) or overall architecture diagram (including interfaces)
- WRIEF register
- Functional blueprint docs
- Requirements Traceability Matrix
- Risks and Issues register
